Yvonne Ann Meyers

Yvonne Ann Meyers was born in Santa Monica, California, to Herbert Paul and Eva Marie Wilke. She was the second of two children and cherished her older sister, Paulette Marie Owen. They affectionately nicknamed each other "George" (Yvonne) and "Willoughby" (Paully), names they used throughout their lives. Yvonne loved sharing stories of her childhood—catching the bus to Venice Beach, visiting the Santa Monica Pier, and sneaking into the horse races with her daddy. One of her most famous childhood escapades occurred in kindergarten: after receiving a stern warning from a nun and being told to "go straight back to your seat," she promptly turned around and climbed directly over every desk and classmate in a straight line until she reached her seat.

She met the love of her life, William E. "Bill" Meyers, and they were married in an intimate ceremony in 1961. They lived in California until 1970, when they embarked on a new journey to the mountains of Colorado, settling in Cedaredge to raise their growing family. Everyone was always welcome around her table, and she was a devoted, lifelong member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Cedaredge.

Yvonne loved her children, and "Mugga"—as her grandchildren lovingly named her—adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In fact, it was often joked around the campfire that she loved her grandkids even more than her own kids. She fiercely loved and protected them all.

She was a dedicated stay-at-home mother until all of her children were in school. While she was widely respected in her career and thoroughly enjoyed her roles at Rocky Mountain HMO and the VA in Grand Junction, Colorado, her most treasured role was always that of wife, mother, and grandmother.

Yvonne had a deep love for life, enjoying time with family and friends, trying new experiences, and traveling whenever possible—especially to destinations with a beach. Some of her favorite adventures were trips to Cozumel and Costa Rica with her husband and friends, where she developed a lasting love for sea turtles. Famous for her competitive spirit, she never turned down a board game. If she was ready to play, she had no hesitation clearing the table mid-dinner—removing glasses and plates whether people were finished or not—announcing, "There are games to be played!"

After a short stay at the HopeWest Ferris Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, at the age of 82 she passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, to join her beloved husband Bill, her parents Herb and Eva, and her sister Paully.

She is survived by her sons William R. Meyers, Ronald A. (Roberta) Meyers, and Jack P. (Cheryl) Meyers; her daughters Karen A. Crespin, Deborah E. Frazier, Patricia Y. (Tony) Meyers-Buddecke, Tamera E. (Brian) Sandoval, and Theresa C. (Jason) Toothaker; as well as 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

The legacy of love that defines Yvonne blesses her family and friends with a gift that will never be forgotten.

A Rosary for Yvonne will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Cedaredge, Colorado, with Mass to follow at 10:30am.
