William Harold Carman, Jr., passed away July 12, 2025, while living in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at Turner Home, an assisted living home, together with their partner company, Brighton Hospice. In the short time he was there, he loved the food, was blessed to have a wonderfully caring staff, and liked to spend time with the other residents. He was 90 years old.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2025, at Taylor Funeral Services, 682 1725 Road, Delta, Colorado, followed by a private ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Bill was born in Kentucky to Roberta Alice Campbell and William Harold Carman, Sr. His father supervised the building of radio stations in various states. His family moved locations several times. When his father became employed at Sandia Base, a Department of Defense site for the development of nuclear and atomic weapons, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Albuquerque became their permanent home. He graduated from Albuquerque High School and then went on to attend college for a time. Bill became employed with Mountain States Telephone. It was there he met his future bride, Minnie Katherine Harris. Bill joined the Navy in August, 1953, and served until August of 1957. During this time, he became engaged to Minnie, and they were married on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1956. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at their home in Delta shortly before Minnie passed away in 2021. In 2022, Bill moved to Canon City, Colorado, to be closer to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Bill enjoyed fly fishing, jeeping, and photography. He was a member of Grand Mesa Baptist Church, Cedaredge, Colorado, and a member of Canon Community Baptist Church, Canon City, Colorado.
William Harold Carman, Jr., was preceded in death by his parents, Roberta and William Harold Carman, Sr.; and, his wife, Minnie Katherine Carman.
William Harold Carman, Jr., is survived by his three children, Katherine Marie Messick (Kevin) of Colorado Springs; H. Lee Carman (Jody) of Pueblo, and Dana Henkle of Yoder. Grandchildren: Autumn Marie Stroup (Colin), Colorado Springs; Shane Anthony Leva (Kelsey), Salida; Makenzie Lee Williams (Trevor), Castlerock; Makayla Lynn Haas (Tanner), Castlerock; Keely Krueger (Kyle), Yoder. Great Grandchildren: Aurora Marie, Pemberley Faith, and Savannah Haven Stroup; Wilder Daniel Leva; Karter Lee and Jace Myles Williams; Sterling William Haas; Lila Fox Krueger.
