Weylin Wendell Johnson, age 51, of Delta, Colorado, passed away on October 23, 2025.
He was born on May 17, 1974 to Wendell and Lyndall “Joyce” Johnson. Weylin grew up in Delta, where he graduated from Delta High School in 1993. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business from Colorado State University.
On July 17, 2010, Weylin married his best friend Jessica “Jessa” Wicburg. Their marriage was filled with laughter, devotion, and countless adventures.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Weylin owned and operated Pest Away Spraying since 1997 where he served his community with honesty and integrity. His work reflected his strong sense of responsibility and his commitment to doing things the right way—qualities that guided every part of his life.
Weylin found joy and fulfillment in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and camping on the Uncompahgre Plateau and especially loved touring the backroads with his friends in his Power Wagon.
Deeply rooted in family and tradition, Weylin took pride in farming just as his father and grandfather did before him. He carried on their legacy with dedication and love for the land that shaped him.
Known as “Uncle WeyWey,” Weylin loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and took great joy in watching them grow and play sports.
Weylin also had a great love for the history of his hometown and valley. He was a passionate collector of local memorabilia, preserving the stories and spirit of the place he called home.
Weylin was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Lyndall Johnson, and his nephew, Blake Burtard.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica, his sister Hillari Burtard, brother-in-law David Burtard and sister Charity and brother-in-law Damon Lockhart.
He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews: Colt, Ty, and Paisley Burtard; Lily, Gauge, Ripp, Mack, and Brock Lockhart; Cash Kirkland; and Lennon and Callum Wicburg. He had a close group of friends who meant the world to him as well as amazing employees whom he thought of as family.
Weylin will be remembered for his steady nature, his dry sense of humor, and the way he showed up when people needed him. He worked hard and spoke straight.
He’ll be missed by his family, his friends, and everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
