Virginia was born November 26, 1924, in Delta Colorado to Lila M. (Millhollin), and John E. Sidebottom. She grew up in Delta and graduated from Delta High School. She married Richard Shea November 4, 1943. They celebrated 50 years together before Richard died in 1995. She was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Family was most important to her! For many years she hosted a weekly dinner for any and all family that could come. She was a fantastic cook and did her best to share her gift with her 5 girls. She loved hearing about her grandkids and great grandkids activities. She was so, so proud of her family! She was an inspiration to all of us because of her health discipline, her generosity, and kindness. She lived by grace and acceptance of all that life granted her. She was loving and gracious to all.
Virginia had a very full life; she had several interesting jobs through the years but spent most of her life being a partner with Richard in their farm and cattle business. She was honored to be chosen Grand Marshal of Deltarado Days in 2018.
Virginia loved to play bridge! She started out playing party bridge but fell in love with duplicate bridge, earning many points towards her life master. Her son-in-law’s teased her because she played for points instead of money!
Virginia loved to travel around the world; visiting Ireland, China, Philippines and many places in the States. We celebrated her 90th Birthday at Mt Rushmore with 25 family members. She especially loved Lake Powell on the houseboat and riding the Jet Ski. Shopping and travel went hand and hand for Mom, she was always looking for a special memento and a sale!
She is survived by her brother Don Sidebottom (Claudette) of Irvine, CA, her daughters Kathleen Linsley (Dennis) of Tonawanda, NY, Marilyn Coughlin of Kansas City, Mo, Jeanie Hellman (Bill) and Jonni Kendrick (Jim) all of Delta. Also, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Sidebottom, her husband Richard, her daughter Sue and her son-in-law Jack Coughlin.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Virginia’s name to St. Michaels Catholic Church 628 Meeker Street, Delta CO or HopeWest Hospice, 195 Stafford Lane, Delta, CO
