Delta, Colorado

Thomas James Harding of Delta, Colorado, passed away peacefully September 14, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, June 16, 1944.

Tom graduated from Englewood High School before going on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology, followed by a Master's degree in Business, from Western State College in 1969. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves from 1967 to 1973.

Tom spent the majority of his career at Indiana State University, where he served as Assistant Director of Residential Life. He was also elected President of the ISU Credit Union. He was active in The Association of College and University Housing Officers, serving a term as President of the organization. During his years in Indiana, Tom was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church, where he served as Treasurer and as a member of the Vestry.

Tom had a lifelong love of history, particularly the history of World War II — a subject close to his heart, as both his father and father-in-law served during the war.

Following his retirement, Tom moved to Delta, Colorado, where he volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity. He went on to serve on the Board for the Delta County Credit Union.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Daphne (Hill) Harding; his daughter, DeAnn Baker; his son, Brad Harding; his grandsons, Ethan Baker and Andrew Baker; his sister, Janet St. John; his sister- and brother-in-law Sue and Veryl Peery; his nephews, Robert St. John and Bryce Peery; and his aunt Helen Jurca.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Harding; his mother, Virginia Harding; and his niece, Shona St. John.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Delta Cemetery in Delta Colorado.
