Thomas R. Gallegos, Sr. passed away peacefully at the Ferris Hospice Center in Grand Junction, Colorado, on July 12, 2026. He was 78 years old.
He was born on August 13,1947, in Delta, Colorado, to Delphina Rodriguez and Henry Gallegos.
He grew up and attended school in Delta. He went straight to work at Skyland Foods where he worked hard at his job for many years.
He met and married Josephina Paiz. They were together for nearly 50 years at the time of Josephina’s death in 2015. There were three children from their marriage.
When he was not working his hobbies included fishing, hunting, buying lottery tickets in hopes to win millions, playing the guitar with friends and listening to the oldies music whenever he could. One of his favorite songs was “Come On, Let’s Go” by Ritchie Valens. He also loved spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Thomas Jr. (wife Missy) of Delta, Colorado, and Anthony (wife Susan) of Montrose, Colorado; sisters, Carmelita Trujillo of Olathe, Colorado, and Margie (husband Richard) Archuleta of Salt Lake City, Utah; and brother, Raymond Gallegos of Delta, Colorado. He also has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Delphina and Henry; wife, Josephina; daughter, Lisa; granddaughter, Hilari; and brothers, Abe and Junior.
There will be a private family service on August 13, 2026.
