Steven Richard Palmeri

January 24, 1964 — January 10, 2026

Delta

Steven was born on January 24, 1964 in the Bronx, NY and grew up in Redding, CT. He graduated from Joel Barlow High School in 1982. He attended Scottsdale Community College Culinary Program, graduated as a Certified Executive Chef, and worked for many fine dining establishments throughout his career.

Steven served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Bremerton, WA for most of his service.

He served as a chef on the USS Belleau Wood, an amphibious assault ship, which embarked to the Philippines carrying a contingent of 2,000 Marines.

When his service ended, he moved to Phoenix, AZ where his late parents, SalvatoreR. Palmeri and Dolores B. Palmeri resided. He later lived in Saratoga Springs, NY, Fort Collins, CO, Cottonwood, AZ before making his way to Delta County, Colorado, making Delta his home. He had been a resident of the Western Slope for over three years.

When not working as a chef, Steven enjoyed traveling the country, going to concerts, and spending time with his cats. He was also a life-long Dead Head, taking in as many Grateful Dead concerts as possible.

Interestingly enough, Bob Weir, founding member and guitarist of the Grateful Dead passed away on the same day as Steven.

Steven is survived by a sister, Lorraine Palmeri, and a nephew, Nicolas Corrales. Arrangements are under the care of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
