Sharon Annabelle Nash

June 9, 1944 — April 23, 2025

Sharon Annabelle Nash was born June 09, 1944, and passed away April 23, 2025, at the Hopewest Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado due to cancer and she spent her final six days there until 5:08 am Wednesday morning at 80 years of age. She missed her 81st birthday by just six and a half weeks.

A memorial service will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Saturday May 10, 2025, at 3pm on 306 Mesa Street, Delta, Colorado.

Sharon was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Laurel Street. Later, her family moved to Independence, Missouri where her sister Phyllis was born. Then moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico and later Denver, Colorado where Sharon graduated from North High School in 1963 and then moved to Lakewood, Colo.

She married Eldon V. Nash on May 8, 1966, on Mother's Day (which was on a Sunday) and attended her sister's graduation that same year. They were married for 53 years, then her husband passed away at home in Nov. 2019 from cancer right before the Covid 19 pandemic started.

They had their 1st child/son Daniel in Colorado Springs, Colo. and then later had their daughter Dolly in Montrose, CO. They ended up spending most of their lives in Delta.

Her last occupation was at Russell Stover’s Candy factory in Montrose, Co. where she and Eldon both worked (he worked as a city draftsman before that time). After Eldon left Russell Stover’s he worked at Domino’s Pizza and then later worked at Walmart in Delta as an assembler and then a door greater before he retired and contracted cancer in his throat and received several treatments for it.

Some of Sharon's interests/hobbies were sewing, playing the piano and organ (self-taught), singing for Church, and gardening. Her favorite shows were classic Cowboy westerns, Carol Burnett, ladies and couples ice skating competitions, ladies gymnastics competitions (college and Olympics), X games snowboarders, skateboarders, bmx (male/female), freestyle monster trucks (Gravedigger was her favorite), the comedies Red Green, Red Dwarf, the Middle, Seinfeld, Wildcards, 3rd Rock from the sun, and Mr. Bean. She also enjoyed watching Hawaiian hula dancers and America's Got Talent.

Her favorite music was country until recently. Her favorite singers were Dolly Parton (who she named her daughter's first name after), Statler Brothers, classic Bee Gees (before their disco era), Chris Isaak, Johnny Cash, Juice Newton, Pam Tillis, Sandy Posey, Carlene Carter, Still Corners, Enya, Anne Murray, and First Aid Kit (like her son, they liked a wide variety of music). She also enjoyed seeing her kids and grandkids singing karaoke. She also loved God and religion and learning Bible truths. She also liked to go fishing with Dolly, Gary and the grandkids.

Her favorite desserts were lemon meringue pie, vanilla ice cream, and pumpkin pie. Her favorite saying was "Don't make me give you the duh!" when someone would say or do something dumb! Her favorite drink was sugar sweetened tea that she would always make.

One of her favorite pets was a kitty named Metoo because it would mimic dogs and was a very sweet and good cat. Later on, she befriended a hummingbird who always visited her in her garden and warned her about dangerous situations like snakes in the area and the same bird would even drink water from her garden hose when she offered it. Also, a stray cat would come visit her sometimes while she was gardening and even killed a snake in order to protect her. I joked with her once in a while and called her Snow White because of it. In the last six years we even had some little toads come out at night to visit us while we watered the lawn, and one even took a shower under the sprinkler and was cleaning his face with his hand like a human would. Sadly, there was no sign of those toads in the last two years, and we just don't know what happened to our little friends.

She also loved playing badminton in the yard with her kids and grandkids. Her favorite board and card games were Chinese checkers, Uno, Life, and Monopoly.

She liked playing checkers as a kid with her brother and sometimes with her sister as well with the card game crazy eights.

She loved various colors, but her utmost favorites were red burgundy and mint green. She enjoyed traveling with her son to see Disneyland (the haunted house, tiki room, and simulated hang glider rides were our favorites), Disneyworld, and Las Vegas (we didn't gamble and just went for the clean fun stuff like the Imax theater at Luxor pyramid that featured dinosaurs and various colored light shows around other parts of the strip, as well as the huge lit up water fountains at night by the main strip, and the Hawaiian Hula dancers at Tahiti Village). Sadly, we couldn't go back to see the Neil Diamond and Carpenters musical tributes and the huge theater ball north of the strip before she passed away.

When she was little, a cow on their farm named Dixie acted like her babysitter {one time when she tried to run away from home, Dixie told on her to her family}. She was mad at her for weeks, but it was obvious Dixie loved her and really cared about her.

Her favorite nickname was Kansas City Kitty. She enjoyed Marvel Movies with her family (especially when Thor was in them). Her favorite science fiction actor was William Shatner who played Captain Kirk in the original and first few movies of Star Trek and even got a picture with his cardboard cutout at the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton a few years before they tore the whole exhibit down.

She was a great cook and would always make the best potato/onion soup with melted American cheese, spaghetti, meatloaf, vegetable/cabbage soup, and breaded/fried zucchini (round sliced). What we will miss the most (besides her cookin') is her great sense of humor, sweet and caring nature, and (mostly from her son) the daily good night hugs. She will be terribly and sadly missed!

At home when she was little, she looked up at a picture of Jesus praying and asked "Mama, who is he praying to?" and her mother replied, "To his heavenly Father, Jehovah God!" From that moment on she had a close relationship with God and his Son, Jesus Christ (James 4:8 and 1st Timothy 2:5-7).

In her later years, she liked watching a young girl named Darci Lynne (a ventriloquist) perform and sing with her puppets. Petunia (her rabbit) was her favorite one. She also liked watching Terry Fator do the same thing only he was much older. She was also excited to see Lindsey Stirling (another girl who originally performed on America's Got Talent) play her violin while dancing. She also liked seeing the various dancers on that show (especially the ones that would light up with different colors in the dark). She was also impressed with a little girl named Jackie Evancho (an opera star who first appeared on AGT) and it was the first time her son got goosebumps and actually started liking opera and he even bought most of her albums.

Her son enjoyed shopping, eating out, and watching movies at the walk in theaters (mostly in Grand Junction), and traveling with her to different places while listening to some of their most beloved songs on the car stereo in their vehicle.

From the first day Mom and Dad met Dolly's husband Gary (of 31 years now) they always treated him like a son. Mom always had a special cup for Gary that she bought just special for him and every time we would come for a visit it would be full and ready. She helped Gary get his first new truck. She always liked to watch movies with us but always ended up falling asleep and she said, "Well one day you will see!" and she was right. The older we get the harder it is to stay awake during movies now! Gary remembers that after work every day she would stop at our house to say hello and if we weren’t there, she would hang out with our dog Babe (our golden retriever) on the porch until we got home. She was always there for us with the kids no matter what was going on and no matter what time it was. We are really going to miss her, but it's not going to be much longer, and we will all be together with our Lord in Heaven. We love you!

She was our little songbird with a song always in her heart! When we were young, we loved being in our rooms while listening to her play her piano and sing in the living room.

She loved playing with Jessica and Matthew (her grandbabies) every chance she got and loved taking care of them too and when she would come visit, they would be anxiously waiting for her precious hugs (we all would be). If she wasn't in the kitchen helping Dolly, she was playing with the kids and she was very close to little Missy (our little Yorkiepoo dog). When she got to the house, Missy never left her side.

Mom loved to go out on the boat with Gary, Dolly, Jessica, Matt and Eldon (our dad) just to enjoy the lake and to fish while enjoying fresh cut watermelon and cantaloupe. Jessica (her granddaughter) remembers the time Grams taught her how to eat honeysuckle and taught Jessica and Matt about her garden and they also wanted to eat her cherry tomatoes. Dolly, however, remembers all the sweet strawberries that mom would grow, but for some reason, all the birds must have eaten most of them most of the time.

Her heart had so much love and compassion. She was not only a mother, grammy or sister, she was a best friend. Her love for life and everyone around her was always such an inspiration to us! You are so loved by everyone! It's not goodbye sweet one, it's see you soon!

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother Annabelle (Schoolcraft) Byler in 1976 and her father Jesse Garland Byler in 1980, husband Eldon in 2019, and brother George Byler in 2023. She is survived by her sister Phyllis Jean Gould, son Daniel Nash, daughter Dolly and her husband Gary Rice and their children/her grandchildren Matthew (Matt) and Jessica (Jessie).

In lieu of flowers, no donations or contributions are necessary, but Daniel would appreciate any given to him or his immediate family. Thank you!
