Samuel Ray Fritzlan passed away on October 12, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital with family by his side. He was 67 years old.
Samuel was born on May 1, 1959 in Delta, Colorado to Lucille Worth and W.W. Fritzlan. He grew up in Hotchkiss, Colorado and graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1979. He entered the work force after high school, and spent time working on the railroad from 1982-1993. Eventually, Sam started his own quality masonry business, and he took tremendous pride in the beautiful, one of a kind, jobs he did for many over the years.
While working on the railroad in Utah, Sam met his wife, Teri Bryner, and they were married on February 10, 1990 in Delta, Colorado. Together, they have two daughters, Tanya Crawford (Kris) and Samantha McCoy (Ben). Sam and Teri celebrated 36 loving and memorable years of marriage together.
Sam and his family lived on a small family farm between Hotchkiss and Paonia, where they spent their years working and raising a variety of animals including sheep, cows, chickens and horses. When Sam wasn’t doing masonry jobs, you would find him working on the farm, playing with his dogs, starting up a project, attending a sporting event for one of his grandchildren, or simply telling others his opinion and thoughts on anything and everything.
Sam is survived by his wife, Teri, daughters, Tanya (Kris), Samantha (Ben) and his 4 grandchildren, whom he loved so incredibly much. In addition to his immediate family, Samuel is survived by his sister, Stella Campbell, and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents (W.W. & Lucille), sister (Rosalee), and brothers (Walter, Larry, Wren, and Lynn).
A lighthearted celebration of life will be held at the Crawford Town Hall on Saturday, November 14, 2026 from 11:00-2:00.
