Robert “Bob” James Mick passed away on September 15, 2026 at the age of 93 years old.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Delta Colorado (1679 Pioneer Road) at 11am on Saturday, September 26th. A burial will be held at the Valley View Cemetery after, followed by a dinner for family and close friends.
Bob was born at home on August 7, 1933, in Wiley, Colorado to Louise (Morlan) and Aure Mick. He grew up in McClave, Colorado. His first job was working in a hay factory where hay pellets were made for livestock. He moved to the Western Slope after losing his sheep herd and corn crop to the Dust Bowl. He held many jobs, including working at a log camp on the Flat Tops, driving a coal truck for the mine in Carbondale and working as a ranch hand at the Crystal River Ranch before attending barber school in Denver in 1963. He barbered for 59 years until the age of 92 but he was always a cowboy first and foremost. He was also well known as a referee for high school basketball and football. Bob spent his time away from Cascade Barber Shop raising cattle and enjoying his family cabin on the Uncompahgre Plateau.
Bob and his wife, Rosilee Anne Mick (Arbaney), were married in 1978. They would have celebrated 48 years of marriage in October.
Bob is survived by his wife Rosilee, his sons Robert Mick (Linda) and Kenneth Holgate (Suzanne), daughters Lori Mick, Toni Coburn and Ivy Fife (Darrell) and his nephew, Phillip Hemphill (Dorris). He had 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren (soon to be 8) and one great-great-grandchild (soon to be 2).
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Aurie, his sister, Dolores Hemphill, and his daughter, Linda Mick.
