Richard Lampton, the tinkering man, passed away in Gallup, New Mexico, on Saturday, July 12, 2014, while on a trip with his wife. Richard was a proud husband, father and grandfather.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Services will conclude at the mortuary.
Richard was born June 17, 1949 in his parents' home in Cedaredge Colorado. Richard married Martha Phipps on October 20, 1967 in Ottawa Kansas. Rich and Marty have been married for 46 years and were blessed with 7 children and 15 grandchildren.
Marty and Richard have spent the last couple years as fruit and vegetable tradesman. Richard was known for his quality workmanship, his teaching abilities, his care giving and welding. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, wood working, carving and knife building. Richard collected everything and enjoyed sharing his adventures with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marty Lampton, 7 children- Peggy Lampton, Esther Garcia (Manuel), Caleb (Kat) Lampton, Belle (Joe) Abercrombie, Murray (Amber) Lampton, Jed (Heather) Lampton, Sylvie Lampton and 15 grandkids and his sister Ila Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leonard and Euella Lampton, and his sister Gracie Carpenter.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
