Raymond “Allen” Scheetz passed away on June 13, 2025, at the age of 83, in Grand Junction, Colorado. In his recent battle with ALS and other health issues he maintained a cheerful outlook with his family and friends by his side.

Born to Ralph and Mary Scheetz in Delta, Colorado on July 15, 1941. He was the middle child of all nine children.

He graduated from Delta High School in May of 1958. Allen married his high school sweetheart, Theresa Waugh on October 14, 1961, and during their marriage they had a daughter Theresa and son Patrick. They moved to Grand Junction and Allen worked at CB Smith Pharmacy. He was a skilled maintenance mechanic and welder with Union Carbide from 1965-1984, when the mill closed. He then attended Delta Technical College and gained a certificate of Diesel Mechanic, working for Shreeves Automotive Repair. Allen married Roxcie Smith, of Delta Colorado on June 28, 1986. In January of 1987, Allen became a Deputy Sheriff for Delta County and retired in 2007. Allen then worked for Harvey Trucking running mail for Delta and Montrose County.

Out of all of Allen’s careers his favorite was being a Deputy Sheriff. He loved his community and telling stories about transporting prisoners and his daily fiascos. He enjoyed being a part of the Sheriff’s Office and appreciated his fellow deputies.

Allen had a love for God, family and friends. His fun loving and easy-going attitude made him a fun person to be around. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and being with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and friends. If there was a party, he was attending. He loved people and sharing good conversations and food. Recently, he took to playing pool with his friends and was really good at it, too.

Allen is preceded in death by his wife Roxcie, brother Jim (Jearee), brother Bob (Sharon-living) and parents Ralph and Mary Scheetz and Stepdaughter Ricki (Roland-living) Ochoa.

He is survived by his children Theresa (Henry) Rood, Patrick (Lisa) Scheetz and Stepson Robert (Shawna) Shilaikis. He is survived by siblings Mae (John) Hanley, Tony (Barbara) Scheetz, Johnny (Pat) Scheetz, Phil (Linda) Scheetz, Loretta (Dwayne) McCarthy, and Bill (Dolores) Scheetz. He is survived by brother-in-law, John (Linda) Smith. He is survived by grandchildren: Joseph (Jenn) Curtis, Chelsey Shilaikis, Ely (Haley) Shilaikis, Kodee (fiancé Cauy) Shilaikis, Tiffanie (Bobby) Groveau, Lynn (Dan) Cook, Shelby (Kevin) Massheimer, Justin (Ale) Shilaikis and Zander Scheetz. He is also survived by great grandchildren: Kevin Cook, June Grayzer, Gauge and Gunner Curtis, Sully Massheimer, McKenzie Groveau, Damien and Avery Shilaikis.
