Randall "Randy" Kent Nuss, 70, of Cedaredge, Colorado, passed away on October 23, 2026.
Randy was born June 15, 1956, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Cecil and LaDeane Nuss. He grew up in Hastings and attended school there.
Randy spent 26 years at Dan & Jerry's Greenhouses, where he served as a supervisor and Vice President of Sales. He was a loyal and hardworking employee who took pride in his work.
He married Shirley in 1980, and they shared 46 years together. They made their home on Colorado's Eastern Slope and later in Minnesota before settling in Cedaredge. Randy had an adventurous spirit. Case in point: he once wrestled a bear at the Sportsman's Show and lost, earning himself a knee surgery and a story for the ages. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when he was hunting or fishing, and he and Shirley "Toots" especially enjoyed camping and riding their four-wheelers together. He also had a deep love of music and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Randy was a loyal friend to many in both Minnesota and Colorado, and those who knew him will remember his favorite phrase: "It behooves you."
In 2010, Randy began experiencing short-term memory loss, which later progressed to dementia.
Randy is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Rick Nuss; and his grandchildren, Samantha and Ethan Nuss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and LaDeane Nuss; his brother, James "Jim" Nuss; and his sister, Nikki Dean.
At Randy's request, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
