Paul Fedler

05/30/1951 ~ 02/13/2024

Paul Fedler, a lifelong resident of Delta, died on February 13, 2024, at home, after fighting an illness for months. He was 72 years old.

Born on Wednesday, May 30, 1951, in Delta, Colorado, Paul was the seventh child of Charles and Agnes Fedler. Paul attended St. Michael’s Catholic School through 8th grade. He then went to Delta High School where he wrestled and played football. After graduating from high school in 1969, he attended Mesa State College.

He met Pat Baxter in 1972 and they were married in June of 1976, in Ouray. At that time, they started building their house on California Mesa. There they would raise 3 pretty decent children, Kim, Jill, and Jon.

A farmer at heart, he farmed with his brothers until 1987 when he started Fedler Spraying. He retired from spraying full-time in 2018 but stayed busy working with his son Jon until recently.

Paul was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight for a couple of years. Throughout his life Paul was on the Board of Directors of the Potato Growers Association, and an active member of the Delta Elks Lodge.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, watching westerns, and playing cards. He excelled at finding arrowheads in the hills, building log furniture, and restoring antique wagons.

A rosary is scheduled for 6pm Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Delta. A funeral and reception will take place 1030 am Wednesday, February 21st, 2024, at Delta 1st Baptist Church on Pioneer Road. Paul’s ashes will be laid to rest at the Delta City Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pat (Baxter), his 3 children: Kim (Alan), and Jill (Todd) of Colorado Springs, and Jon (Lia) of Delta. He had 5 ornery grandkids- Amanda, Ryan, Tyler, Ethan, and Daphne. He is survived by his siblings Angie (LaVerle) Wilson, Tom (Liz) Fedler, Barbara (Don) Workman, Elaine Hall, Kathleen (Gerry) Gill, and Charles (Ann) Fedler, and a sister-in-law, Judie Fedler. He was also uncle to 23 nieces and nephews, and a great uncle to countless others.

He is preceded in death by his brother Greg Fedler, two sisters Carol and Mary, and his parents Charles and Agnes (Schmalz) plus many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
