Orland L. Broome was called home to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved ones preceding him April 9th, 2025, at the age of 96. His funeral will be held Friday May 2nd at 10:00 am at Garnet Mesa Baptist Church of Delta with burial following at Mesa View Cemetery.
Orland was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, son, neighbor, and friend to many. He was a man of devout faith and his love for God, family, and church, was very important to him.
Orland was born during the beginning of the Great Depression January 21st, 1929, in Brownfield Texas. His family moved to Colorado when he was 12 years old and eventually settled in Delta, CO. He was raised by his strict and loving parents Toby and Mary Edna Broome. He married his beloved wife June Brandstadt in 1967 and they celebrated 57 years together. He retired after working several jobs during his life, his favorite of which was working at Holly Sugar Factory in Delta until it closed in 1977. Every year Orland loved to grow a garden full of fresh vegetables and flowers in the yard, teaching his son’s the art. His lawn and keeping the family property free from weeds was a source of pride and joy. Orland loved to sing and play his harmonica. He would play a song for all who entered his home. Orland’s other joys in life included watching the Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies with June.
Orland was a proud veteran of the United States Army and Colorado National Guard. He was honorably discharged from both.
Orland was recently preceded in death by his loving wife June. He is survived by his oldest son Mark and his wife Leona of Delta, CO, grandchildren Markeya & Seth Russell and Mariah & Devon Brown and great grandchildren Maci, Anna, Declan, Elora, Nash and Raylee. His younger son Bruce and his wife Camie of Lake Stevens, WA, and grandchildren Gabriel, Izaia, Brendan, Kylie and Nathan & Taylor Broome, and great granddaughter Maeve.
