Melody Lynn Quammen passed away on 12/03/2025 / December 3, 2025, in Delta, CO. She was 52 years old. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on December 17, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church in Delta (1290 A St. Delta, CO), followed by a reception.
Melody was born on September 9, 1973 in San Diego, CA to Brad and Kathy Kolman. She grew up in Delta, CO and graduated from Delta High School in 1991. She continued her education at Colorado State University and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and graduated with a BA in Biology. She then received from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology and became a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Melody and her husband, Pete, lived in Colorado Springs for a number of years with their children Austin, Katelynn, and Joshua. In 2008, they moved to Delta and added their son, Nathaniel, to the family. Melody spent most of her career caring for animals in veterinarian offices. She was a valued employee and a devoted animal lover. Melody loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved teaching and caring for children at her church, community involvement, socializing with her friends and family, being in the sun (especially in Hawaii), Christmas (especially the music and decorations), watching funny movies, and sending cards. Her favorite quote is "I like smiling...smiling is my favorite!" She was a devoted mom and a beloved daughter, sister, and friend.
Melody is survived by her husband, Peter Quammen of Delta, CO; her children: Austin Quammen (Tina) of Colorado Springs, Joshua Quammen of Aurora, CO, Nathaniel Quammen of Delta, CO, Kayla Matlock, of Danville, CA, her grandchildren Logan of Colorado Springs, and Maliah of Danville, CA; her parents Brad & Kathy Kolman of Delta, CO; her mother-in-law Bernice Quammen of Sonora, CA; her brother Loren Kolman (Amanda) of Canon City, CO; her sister Connie Loy (Jason) of Delta, CO; her sisters-in-law Mary (Jim) Horvath, of Tuscon, Mona Snyder of Sonora CA, Kris (Scott) Morrison, of Tuolumne, CA; and a number of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Melody is preceded in death by her grandparents Raymond and Gladys Kolman and Ben and MaryAnee Etheridge, her father-in-law, Lloyd Quammen, and her daughter Katelynn Quammen.
