Marilyn Maxine Badding April 25, 1939 – May 17, 2024


Marilyn Maxine Badding passed away on May 17, 2024 at Horizons Care Center, in Eckert, CO. She was 85 years old. She was born on April 25, 1939 to Stacia Kizer and Harold Rehfeld in Ovid, Colorado. Marilyn’s parents divorced when she was an infant. When she was a toddler, Marilyn’s mother married Lester Kizer, who was the only Dad Marilyn ever knew.


Marilyn attended school in Julesburg, Colorado for a few years, before her family moved to Brighton, Colorado where she attended school and graduated in 1957. In 1958, Marilyn met Edward Badding at a dance. After courting, they decided to marry which began 65 years of a loving marriage together. Marilyn and Edward were married on June 13, 1959 and were blessed with 5 children.


Marilyn and Edward moved to Cedaredge, Colorado in 1966 and bought the farm where they grew old together. Marilyn and Edward shared their love for the cows, horses, dogs, and cats on the farm. Marilyn was a farmer’s wife and loved spring time when all the calves and kittens were born. She loved to bake cookies and bread, and always had a hot meal prepared for the family. She loved to sew, crochet, and take care of her flowers.


Marilyn loved having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit. She loved holding the babies and sneaking the grandchildren and great-grandchildren cookies and candy when their parents were not looking.


Marilyn was active in the Surface Creek Saddle Club, Harvest Festival Association and was a leader of the Cedar Teens Drill Team. She helped organize and work the Little Britches Rodeo for years.


Marilyn was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Philips Catholic Church in Cedaredge, CO. Marilyn was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Alter and Rosary Society.


Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Edward, Children: Bernardine (Tom) Krupka of Hudson WI, Loretta (Craig) Busch of Cedaredge, CO, Michael (Carol) Badding of Cedaredge, CO, and Joan (Jon) Nestor of Silt, CO. Grandchildren: Anthony Krupka, Kimberly Krupka, Christina (Nate) Harriman, Frederick Busch, Marilyn (Bryan) McClaskey, Jennifer (Alex) Garmon, Kristen (Jeff) Sidor and Shawn Badding. Great Grandchildren: Kayley Harer, Karyssa Krupka, Liam, Wyatt, Emily and Natalie Harriman, Tucker and Tate McClaskey and Callie and Lane Sidor.


She was preceded in death by her son Anthony, her parents Stacia and Lester Kizer, brothers, Elzie, Lester and John and sisters Gracie and Vera.


Memorial services will be held on June 18, 2024, at St. Philips Catholic Church in Cedaredge, CO. The rosary will be at 9:00AM with the eulogy following. The memorial mass will be at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at the Cedaredge Cemetery, with a dinner following at St. Philips Catholic Church.
