Lucy Lindsey, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with cancer and dementia. Lucy was born in Red River County, Texas during the Dust Bowl years. She was one of 6 children of Alcie and Vergie Shirey; they settled in Levelland, TX where Lucy graduated high school. She met Leroy Lindsey there and they married in 1956. They had two girls, Cecelia and Tammy. The Lindsey’s moved to Englewood CO, where the family spent most of their years. Lucy was a homemaker and Leroy was a Teamster, custodian, and welder. But they also were dedicated rockhounds and owned the Little Big Rock Shop in Englewood for decades. Lucy retired to Delta to be closer to Tammy after Leroy passed in 2014 and Cecelia passed in 2015.
Lucy is survived by her sister, Virginia (Phoenice) of Soldotna, AK; daughter Tammy (Egidi) of Hotchkiss, CO, grandchildren Laura (Egidi) Cruz of Grand Junction and Brandon Egidi of Hotchkiss.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Leroy, sisters June and Reba; brothers Sonny and Dean; and daughter Cecelia.
Services will be held in Denver at Fort Logan Cemetery in the Spring.
