Loreita Kay Holder passed away on December 26, 2025 at Hope West Care Center in Grand Junction, CO. She was 88 years old. Kay will be cremated and no service will be held.
Kay was born on February 15, 1937, in Austin, Colorado. She was raised in Delta by Clara and Jim Messano along with her siblings Carol, Sonny, Virgil, and Jeannie. She graduated from Delta High School and then married Charles Holder Jr. in 1955. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this August. Kay and Jr. had three children, Randy, Jerry, and Deborah (Shaw). Kay worked different jobs throughout her life and retired as a bookkeeper from West Star Bank.
In her free time, Kay enjoyed traveling with Jr. around the United States in their RV. She had particularly fond memories of visiting the Oregon coast and they spent many winters in Overton, Nevada, where they developed several enduring friendships. Kay was a true artist; she was talented at painting, crafting, and baking. Her burnt sugar chiffon cake will be especially missed.
Kay is survived by her devoted husband Jr., her children Jerry (Heidi) and Deborah (Lyle), her sister Carol (Jim), four beloved grandchildren, and four cherished great-grandchildren. Her family will forever remember the warmth of her hugs, how she radiated joy and was always excited for a visit, and the love she poured into every work of art, hand-made card, or creation.
In Lieu of flowers please donate to Hope West Hospice in Kay's name.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
