Lonnie Dean Burton

Dec 2, 1953 — Jun 14, 2026

Delta, Colorado

Lonnie Burton passed away June 14, 2026, at his residence in Delta. He was 72 years old.

His Celebration of Life services will be held on July 18, 2026, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Heritage Hall at the Delta County Fairgrounds in Hotchkiss, CO.

Lonnie was born on December 2, 1953, in Pueblo, CO, to Virginia LeeAnn and Jared Lee Burton. He grew up in the Denver/Westminster area and graduated from Westminster High School. Lonnie continued his education at numerous continuing education classes in night school as well as through his employer, Mountain Bell, which subsequently became US West obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Finance.

He met Holly MacGibbon-Byers and they were married on September 2, 1977. They celebrated 50 years together.

In 2000, Lonnie & Holly made their way to Delta County making Delta their home. He has been a resident of the Western Slope for 26 years. After befriending Bert and Evelyn Frazier, Lonnie realized a need for an honest vacuum cleaner and floor care machine technician and decided to open L&B Vacuum Service in 2002 and has successfully operated it these last 24 years with customers faithfully coming from miles around. When not working, he enjoyed: socializing with friends, playing cards or Qwirkle, tending to his gardens, camping in the forest, kayaking with friends, hunting trips with his brothers, plinking heads off grasshoppers with his pellet guns, fishing and teaching his son and grandsons to fish as well as think for themselves and step up and be responsible. For 15 years he enjoyed working with the team of friends producing and directing our local Pea Green Saturday Night productions and spending time with family and friends. He always commented: "Live simply so others may simply live."

Lonnie is survived by His wife, Holly of Delta; His son Alex of Delta; His Brothers Rocky and Dave of BonCarbo, CO; His Grandsons Gavin Burton and Evan Luliak and their sons.

Lonnie is preceded in death by His parents; and Grandparents.
