Lois Leanne Francis

Lois Leanne Francis passed away July 20, 2026, at home in Delta. She was 80 years old.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, 10 am at the Delta City Cemetery, 1055 E Third St.

Lois was born on March 22, 1946, in Grants Pass, Oregon, to Lillian A Lawson and Henry Sheldon Nickerson. She grew up in Graton, California.

She met James P Francis, and they were married on February 17, 1973. They celebrated 53 wonderful years together.

Pat and Lois were invited by friends for a visit to Delta and before the visit was over, they decided Delta was where they wanted to live. They found a home with land for horses and bought it before the visit was over. Delta has been home for Lois for the last 39 years. Lois has always loved horses. She was an accomplished equestrian. Her life’s work was breeding, training, and showing horses. When not working with horses she was talking about horses. Lois also saved many animals. She has adopted more unwanted, lost, broken and in need horses, dogs, cats, and even a skunk. Her home was where she expressed her hidden talents of decorating, painting, and sculpting.

Lois is survived by her spouse, James Patrick Francis of Delta; children, Corky (Tammy) Francis of Delta; stepchildren, Denise (Calvin) Nourse of Orangevale, CA, Kim (Ray) Mooney of Pleasant Hill, CA, Shannon White of Salem, OR, and Stacy Francis of Broomfield, CA; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and sister, Ruth Lantry of Albuquerque, NM.

Lois is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Terry Brendon Pettit; and brother, Lewis George Nickerson.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
