Lois Paula Anders (Mount)

June 10, 1950 — July 26, 2025

Delta, Colorado

Lois Paula Anders (Mount), age 75, of Delta, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025.

Born on June 10, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas, to Victoriana Sophia Martinez, Lois and her sister, Lola, were lovingly adopted on June 10, 1958, by Finis and Alice Mount. She was raised on the Mount family dairy farm in Olathe, Colorado, and graduated from Olathe High School in 1968. On August 25, she married the love of her life, Alan Anders. Together, they moved to Durango, Colorado, to attend Fort Lewis College, where Lois earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1972.

Lois and Alan settled in Trinidad, Colorado, where they welcomed their son, Clint Alan, in 1973, and daughter, Melani Kim, in 1977. During this time, Lois helped found the Alta Vista School, which provided educational opportunities for children with disabilities—an achievement she cherished—working closely with her dear friend and mentor, Rae Bulson.

The family later relocated to Thornton in 1978 and to Longmont in 1984. In 1986, Alan was diagnosed with leukemia. After two bone marrow transplants, he passed away on January 7, 1989. In his memory, Lois family and friends organized the Anders Memorial Golf Tournament for four years, raising funds for the St. Mary’s Hospital Bone Marrow Matching Program and The Colorado Hospice—efforts she was deeply proud of.

Lois was an engaged community member and joined the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), serving as President of the Longmont Chapter in 1992. She was honored as the Chapter’s Woman of the Year in 1993 for her professional accomplishments and dedication to service.

Throughout her career, Lois made a profound impact. She worked as a Case Manager for the Developmental Disabilities Center and Dayspring Developmental Center, supporting individuals with developmental needs. After Melani graduated high school, Lois pursued further education, earning her Master of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado in 1999.

She returned to Western Colorado, where she obtained licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and became a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She provided therapy through The Center for Mental Health in Montrose and later spent 17 years with the Montrose County School District, where she counseled high-risk elementary students with compassion, dedication, and strength.

Lois’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to the well-being of children and families. Her legacy is felt in the countless lives she touched through her professional and volunteer efforts. She enjoyed cooking and long walks.

She is survived by her son, Clint Alan Anders, and his daughters: Sydney, Allyson, and Lydia; and her daughter, Melani Anders, and her husband, Clint, along with their children: Blake, Alan, and Nicole. She is also survived by her sister, Lola Mathias, and her husband, Kevin; their daughters, Tressa, and her husband, Scott, and their children: Quinn, Van, Grant, and Naomi; and her sons, Kalvyn and Brooks. Other surviving family members include her brother, David Mount, and the daughters of her late brother, Robert D. Mount: Sarah, Rosie, and Rae Ann.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alan; her parents, Finis and Alice Mount; her mother, Victoriana Martinez; and her brother, Robert D. Mount.

Lois will be remembered for her enduring strength, generous heart, and lifelong devotion to helping others. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
