Leonard D. Shaw

Leonard D. Shaw was ushered into the Presence of his Lord on September 29th, 2026 in the same home he was born into, in Crawford, Colorado, more than 87 years ago. He was born August 8th, 1939 to William Wendell Shaw and Loeta (Busby) Shaw. He graduated from Crawford High School in 1957 and attended Adams State College in Alamosa where he received a Bachelors in Education. He married Jeannie Mae Crist on June 12th, 1959. He spent his entire 33 year teaching career at Hotchkiss High school, spending untold hours in his classroom teaching English, retiring in 1994. He coached basketball and baseball, sponsored drama, cheerleading, photography, and many other school activities. He enjoyed hunting, other outdoor activities, and managing his small farm. Leonard was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and sang at weddings, funerals, church, and other events. He also enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their endeavors. He was actively involved in church for the majority of his life, prompted by his personal relationship with Christ. He was known for his generosity, corny wit, and mischievous antics.

He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, William “Bill” Shaw. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeannie; his children, Pam Klaseen (Bryan), Diane Curry (Steve), and Larry Shaw (Desi); as well as eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Celebration of Life will be held on October 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at the North Fork High School Commons. The family requests that any memorials be made to a charity of the givers choice in lieu of flowers.
