Obituary

Born on November 30, 1956, to Otto G. and Blodwyn A. Wisener in Tucson, Arizona. Kay was the baby of the family of seven kids, six girls, and one boy. Noami, Cathy, Hedy, Linda, Otto, and Cherry. Kay grew up with an active imagination, always finding creative ways to spend her time. Sneaking a rabbit or dog in the house for a sleepover. Her favorite movie has always been the Wizard of Oz, which she carried with her all her life. She had a love for animals ever since childhood that remained strong throughout her life.

In 1966, the family moved to Kailua, Hawaii. Kay loved the beach and eating local candy. Li Hing Mui and Ginger were her favorites. Shoes weren't required at school; she sat under a teeter-totter and had her ankle broken, forcing her to wear a cast from her foot all the way to her hip. Then in 1968, a move to San Francisco, California, came for a short time before eventually returning back home to Tucson, Arizona.

When Kay was a teenager, she met and fell in love with John Tadeo, with whom she has two children. Sonya (Quintana) and John Tadeo, Jr. In 1981, Kay and her sister Linda would move to New Mexico to start a new life, and she did when she met Joe Valencik in 1982 and had a son Eric Valencik. The family of five resided in Playas, New Mexico, where they enjoyed many camping, waterskiing lake days, exploring around New Mexico. Fun family holidays with silly shenanigans. A move to Apache Junction, Arizona, came in 1992, where Kay would work at the Mining Camp Restaurant for a time. Later in 2006, Kay moved to Montrose, Colorado, to be close to her adult children and grandchildren. She worked as a personal care provider until she joined the staff at Montrose Memorial Hospital in 2012, where she was currently employed where she met many wonderful people.

Kay has always been feisty and friendly with a sense of humor. She could stop you with just one look but also brighten your day with a smile. She had a very strong work ethic which she proudly passed down to her children, not to mention a strong competitive nature. Her green thumb never went unnoticed; she grew the best sunflowers which were her favorite. Kay always had a little companion she would spoil, who would come with strict handling and feeding instructions when she went out of town. Kay loved to go on yearly cruises with her sister, Linda and family. Most recently to Hawaii where she returned to her childhood island full of memories. She and Linda, her best friend, went on so many road trips and adventures through the years building a bond and memories. Kay made all holidays special, not to mention the best deviled eggs. She held traditions and made birthdays special for everyone.

Kay loved her three children, fourteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren with all her heart. Family gatherings were filled with lots of food, love, laughter, and noise.

While on vacation to see Elvis Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, with Linda, they stopped in Hays, Kansas. Kay suffered a major heart attack; the Lord called her home while she was surrounded by her children and sister. Kay is now reunited with her parents; sisters, Naomi, Hedy, and Cherry; niece, Diana; grandson, Tobias; and many other beloved family, friends, and animals she lost along her journey through life. She had the biggest heart and has now met Elvis.

A celebration of life will be held on July 18th, 2026, at the Elks Club in Montrose, Colorado, from 1pm to 5pm. Donations can be made then.
