A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday December 22, 2023 at Toponas Town Hall in Toponas Colorado, followed by a graveside service at the family cemetery.
Larry Irwin Kier was born on July 18, 1942 in Steamboat Springs Colorado to Charles and Loi (Brooks) Kier. Larry grew up in Toponas, however he spent many winters in Canon City and graduated from Canon City Highschool with the class of 1960.
On June 12, 1961 Larry married the love of his life Charlotte A. Pauls in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. During this union they were blessed with seven children. Larry and Charlotte celebrated their 57th anniversary before the Lord called her home.
Larry moved to Delta Colorado and spent a couple years working for his Aunt and Uncle, Herald and Margaret Porter. Larry then returned to Toponas to take over the family Ranch. Larry loved the Toponas area and enjoyed many years taking care of his cattle and running a hunting business under the Flat Top Mountain Range.
Larry enjoyed riding good horses, feeding in the winter with his team and sled, fishing the area streams and creeks and hunting big mulies on Egeria canyon. Larry made several sculptors one of which he had poured that will be enjoyed for many generations.
Larry had a passion for Rodeo that started fairly young, winning his first buckle as a child. Larry rode bareback horses, saddle broncs, bull dogged, and team roped with many money earnings over the years. He always enjoyed teaching the next generation about the sport. In his later years he spent many hours watching Rodeos on the Cowboy Channel and always looked forward to the NFR.
Larry is survived by his younger sister, whom he was very close with, Joan (James) Carnahan.
Larry is survived by his four sons, Sheldon (Hazel) Kier, Steve (Tanya) Kier, Shane (Amanda) Kier, and Seth (Meghan) Kier; as well as his daughter Staci (Alarik) Myrin.
Larry left a legacy with his seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
