Obituary

Larry Baker passed away on 02/24/2026 at Valley Manor Nursing home. He was 90 years old. 

Services will be held at noon on March 4th, 2026, at The Veterans Memorial in Cedaredge, Colorado, located at 100 SE Buffalo Ave. 

Larry was born on January 31, 1936, in Vernal, UT, to Vera Wardle Bell and Alfred J. Baker. He grew up in Salt Lake City and moved to San Francisco with his father after he graduated from Salt Lake City school district. He attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, earning a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering. He served our country in the Navy from 1950 to 1956 during the Korean War. He left the Navy as a 1st class Culinary Specialist on the USS St Paul. He was awarded the Medal for Sea Duty, the Korean Service Medal, and many more. 

He met Katherine Elaine Miller and married on January 31, 1981. They celebrated 45 happy years together. Larry and Elaine lived in several California cities while Larry was employed at Lockheed Martin, then moved to Delta County and made Austin their home. When not working, Larry enjoyed car restoration, coin collecting, gardening, and volunteering at the VFW men's auxiliary. He is survived by his spouse of Cedaredge, Colorado, his step-son, Monte, and his wife Andrea, and his daughter, Renee. He has one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

 Larry is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters.
