A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday March 23, 2024 at New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Cedaredge. Potluck lunch to follow. Joyce loved purple and in her memory please join us in wearing purple at her service.
Joyce was born on October 29, 1942, in Monterey Park California, to Reina Griewank and Harry Franklin. She grew up in Van Nuys California and graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1961. She continued her education at Marinello Schools of Beauty where she obtained her cosmetology license.
She met her husband Larry Wright in Apple Valley California and they were married on April 4, 1970.
Joyce is survived by her husband Larry; her children Patrick, Reveille (Joshua), Chris (Keri); her sister Jean, Jan, Sheila (David), Harry (Cyndi), Mark (Melinda), Nancy (Chuck), Philip (Lori); sister in law Reveille (Jim); her grandchildren Jessica (Tyler), Brittany (Zach), Nathanael (Emry), Allison (Jason), Andrew, Jeffrey, Dayce, Allani, Tristin, Natalee and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce and Larry were captivated by the Grand Mesa and the beauty of the Western Slope, making Cedaredge their home in 1982. Joyce co-owned many businesses with her husband Larry in Cedaredge including; Wright Distributing, Do It Best Hardware, and most recently Aspen Rock & Gem. When not working Joyce loved caring for animals, participating in church, and most importantly being with her family, and sharing Jesus with others. Joyce always opened her heart and home to those in need and has never met anyone she didn’t like.
Joyce could often be heard saying, “I know a Guy”, referring to the things she knew her God could do, “Garbage in, garbage out”, “Praise the Lord!”, “I know Who made that rock”, and “A Proverb a day keeps the devil away!”. She was loving, generous, kind, sentimental, whitty, faithful, selfless, and devoted. She was a collector of people and memories. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She has left a legacy of love and faith to her family and so many that she has met. Joyce would want you to know how very much she loved her family and Jesus. She will be greatly missed.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
