Joe Hoffart was born on April 14, 1935, to Peter and Clara Hoffart in Seiz, North Dakota.  He attended school in both Selz and Wahpeton, North Dakota.

Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict.

Joe began his career as a radio engineer with the Great Northern Railroad.  Where he met his wife, Barbara, in St. Paul, Minnesota.  They married in 1961.

Joe worked for Westinghouse in Chicago and Safetran Systems in California, he helped build communication systems for Amtrak and Union Pacific.

Joe purchased Triangle Electric and moved his family to Dillon, CO, in 1976.  He was an active member of the community, servicing on the Town Council, Elks Lodge and the Catholic Church, including the Knights of Columbus.

Joe was well known for his electrical work throughout the Summit County.  Most notable accomplishments were installing the infrastructure for snowmaking, ski lifts, gondolas, and night skiing  along with River Run Resort at Keystone.

He sold the company and retired in 1995, moving to Cedaredge, Triangle Electric remains as one of Summit County's longest-lasting businesses.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, was active with the church, and Knights of Columbus.  Most importantly, Joe treasured his family and the many friendships he made throughout his life.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

He is survived by one brother and five sisters, three children, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, 290 W. Cedar Ave., on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:00am.  A Rosary will begin at 9:30am.

His generosity, care, knowledge, and craftsmanship left a lasting mark on the communities where he lived and worked, but his greatest legacy will be found in his family, his friendships, and the countless people whose lives were made better simply because they knew him.
