John O Krook

John O.Krook passed away on Sunday December 24^th, 2023, at his home in Crawford, Colorado.  He was 81 years old.

There will be no services at this time.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

John, was born on January 18^th, 1942 in Villard, Minnesota to Oluf I. Krook and Ione L. Judkins. He grew up in Villard, MN and then moved to Glendive, MT in 1957 where he then graduated high school at Dawson High School.  He then moved to Baker, MT where he was in construction and worked various jobs before getting started in seismic for the oil companies and continued working in oil throughout his work life.  John was a man who wore many hats in his career, but the oilfield was his main career.

He met Carol A. Sinclair in Baker, MT and was married for a few years before ending in divorce and then he met Leginia D. Roundtree when he moved to Cortez, CO for work. They were married up until the day we lost him.

John and Leginia made their way to Delta County making Crawford their home.  John Krook has been a resident of the western slope from Grand Junction to Crawford for 35 years.

John’s hobbies were: Fishing, camping, hunting, storytelling and he loved his garage sales.  He loved spending time with his family and his grandkids teaching everyone something new in life. 

Some of the most memorable things about him was his storytelling and John would always say: “Think outside the box” or when he called when it was cold “those Kiki birds out over there?”.

John is survived by his wife Leginia Krook, his two sisters Judy Stanhope ( Roger)  & Nola Campbell. His six children, David Krook (Cory), Dawn Deren (Erol), Correna Genders (Steve), Lesley Moe, Gena Arellano (Joel), Sahara Krook Thurston (Jeff Schweyer), 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
