John Davis Kirkpatrick was born in Delta, Colorado on December 26, 1949, to parents Thelma Helen Davis and William Franklin Kirkpatrick. He died September 28, 2024, at his home in Austin, Colorado.
John is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert and Thomas. John was known to many as a farmer and rancher in Delta County as a hard worker, an active leader who was generous to the community, always ready to lend a hand, a good friend, stubborn and full of grit. He was ornery, liked to tell a joke, helped his kids build character with an endless supply of chores—their friends included. He enjoyed raising cattle, working the land especially his peaches, attending fairs, festivals and rodeos and he rarely turned down dessert. He was recognized to many by his full beard and mischievous twinkle in his eye. Come share fond memories and good times about the man we respected and loved. Services will be held graveside at Cedaredge Cemetery on October 11, 2024, at 11am immediately followed by a celebration of life with light refreshments at the Field of Dreams in Orchard City.
