Jenny Lynn Sundquist Entered into rest at her residence in Olathe, CO on Dec 29, 2023.
Jenny was born on April 1, 1970 in Marquette, Michigan. She was adopted as a newborn by Fred and Gail Reynolds. Jenny spent much or her childhood living in Houghton, MI. She often recounted fondly of the winter snows and waterskiing on Lake Superior.
She attended college at Colorado State University, where she met the love of her life, Victor Sundquist (Vic). He introduced her to the General Assembly and Church of the First Born. She was baptized on March 17th, 1991. She and Vic married on the Dolores River on June 1, 1991. Vic and Jenny first lived in the cabin on the 7X ranch, which was a 15 minute horseback ride from the road, crossing the creek many times each way. The cabin had no electricity, and Jenny learned to cook biscuits on a wood stove. She rode many miles with Vic and grew to tolerate the occasional bear in the yard.
Jenny grew up in the city, but she was always a country girl at heart. One of her favorite childhood books was Little House on the Prairie, and after marrying Vic she embraced the country lifestyle wholeheartedly. She enjoyed these years, teaching herself to cook, sew, garden, can and preserve food, and to maintain a household.
She loved to hunt with Vic and the Sundquist family, harvesting several animals for the freezer.
Jenny spent much of her time building a loving family, instilling in them the importance of faith. Jenny happily took on the responsibility to home-school all six of her children through graduation. The education she gave went beyond academics, including the household skills that she had mastered and advice on how to entreat others. She truly prepared her kids to succeed in life and in the faith.
She always said she was adopted three times, once by her parents, and by the Sundquist, and once by God. She cherished the family she found with the brethren.
Jenny was present for the birth of many of her grandchildren, even catching the youngest, Oakley, when he was born, a story she retold with joy. The only grandchildren she wasn’t there for their births were Sarah’s kids because they, like Jenny, were adopted. It was always special to Jenny that they had that in common.
Jenny was a true chaste keeper at home, often out and about, helping those in need. Jenny was an avid seamstress. She quilted many quilts, giving them as gifts, made many garments, and altered wedding dresses for much of the church. Perhaps her most prized project was finishing a quilt for each of her 13 grandchildren despite having poor health in the last year of her life, including a few extras for more grandkids to come. This project was quite a testament to her dedication to family.
Jenny was preceded in death by her father, Fred Reynolds of Green Valley, AZ, and one grandchild, Aspen Ashby, and niece Nina Reynolds. Jenny is survived by her husband, Victor Sundquist of Olathe, Colorado, her mother Gail Reynolds of Montrose, CO, Brother Mark Reynolds (Usha) and son Luke of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sister-in-law Lori Sundquist and sons Chase and Cutter of Cortez, CO, Six Children: Sarah (Josh) Fitzjarrell of Rocky, OK, Victor Timothy (Katie) Sundquist of Olathe, CO, Lena (Dylan) Ashby of Grand Junction, CO, David (Traci) Sundquist of Olathe, CO, Nate (Autumn) Sundquist of Parkland, OK, and Owen (Jodi) Sundquist of Olathe, CO, 13 Grandchildren: Landon, Clara, Elena, Echo, Rory, Sterling, Bowen, Raylin, Lane, Canyon, Ember, Wesley, and Oakley.
Jenny was a steadfast example of faith, strength, and love for God and his people, witnessed by her children, grandchildren, brethren, and others that knew her.
