Janet Fay Boyd, 78, passed away peacefully on June 18th at Aspen Ridge Alzheimer's Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado.
A celebration of life will be held on June 27th following a Graveside Service at the Delta City Cemetery at 10:00am.
Janet was born on October 17, 1946, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Harold & Wanna Mae Stevens. She was the fourth of six kids. Janet’s family moved to California when she was 6 months old. At age 11, her parents moved their family of eight to Delta, Colorado. Janet finished her schooling in Delta and graduated from Delta High School in 1964.
On April 10, 1965, Janet married the love of her life, Jerry D. Boyd. Janet and Jerry had two children, Lori (Boyd) Reiher & Darren Boyd. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage together. Together they built a successful business known as J & J Surplus. They were a great team and ran that business for many years. She had an important role in the army surplus and snowmobile shop. Janet was always willing to help her in-laws with their grocery store and rentals. She was not one to shy away from hard work. After J & J Surplus was sold, Janet embraced her most important job and that was as a stay-at-home mom. She ran a tight ship and made Jerry’s life easier as he worked in the coal mines. Janet’s children were very blessed to have her at home. She was their rock. After the kids were grown, Janet went to work for Colorado Crystal bottling facility. After Jerry retired, they enjoyed spending their days together. Janet started volunteering at Heirlooms of Delta after Jerry passed away in 2016. She enjoyed feeling she had a purpose there and met some amazing people. She always enjoyed being busy and helping others.
Janet was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest accomplishment. She loved and cared for Jerry after many injuries and surgeries. She was actively involved with her children and their activities. Whether it was BMX racing, wrestling, football, volleyball or basketball, Janet was always there cheering her kids on. Being a grandma was one of her favorite things! She adored her 3 grandchildren and never missed one of their sports activities, plays, or performances. Janet never missed a chance to hug and kiss on her grandbabies.
Janet is survived by her two children, Lori Boyd Reiher (Steven) of Delta Colorado and Darren Boyd (Kim) of Grand Junction, Colorado.
