Glen V. Hockett passed away at home on October 28, 2025. He was 94 years old. He was born September 13, 1931, to Merl and Marieta Hockett in Grand Junction, CO.
He met Shirley McCoy in Grand Junction, and he cut her out of the herd. They were married February 15, 1953, and celebrated 72 anniversaries together. They made Crawford, CO their home in 1960.
Glen was a life-long cattleman and rancher. He loved spending time in the mountains, especially in the summer. He loved horses and among his favorites were Meg and Lad. He was always willing to lend a hand to a friend in need and he was a good friend.
There were four daughters born in the barn. Barbara brought delight to cow camp, Nancy and Lisa had to be brought in under the heat lamps and Amy came at branding time.
Glen is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Crawford, Barbara and Bill Tiefenback of Grand Junction, Nancy and Bill Carlson of Hotchkiss, Lisa and David Holcomb of Mora, MN and Amy and Ted Alanko of Gunnison along with 4 grandkids and 9 great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and a grandson, Seth Tiefenback.

Per Glen’s request, a private family service will be held. His friends are invited to a reception at the Hotchkiss Senior Center, 276 W Main St., Hotchkiss, CO on November 8, 2025, from 2-3 pm.
