Gail Anna Reynolds

August 10, 1935 — May 24, 2024

Montrose, Colorado

Gail Anna Reynolds (Youngs) entered into rest in Montrose, Colorado on May 24, 2024. Gail was born on August 10, 1935, in Johnson City, New York, to Leon and Alma Youngs. Gail spent her childhood living in the Tri cities area and enjoyed spending time with her father attending baseball games.

She moved to New Jersey in her youth to work at the Bell Telephone Central Research Labs, taking night classes from Rutgers University in art. Gail married the love of her life and lifelong partner, Fred Reynolds, on November 5, 1960, in East Orange, New Jersey. Following a move to Colorado, she continued her art education at Colorado University. Gail won many awards over the years for her paintings.

Gail and Fred had two children, adopting Jenny as a newborn in Marquette, Michigan, and only son, Mark, in Houghton, Michigan. Gail chose to put her children first, ahead of her career, and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. They were both avid tennis players and traveled as a family to play nationally.

Fred and Gail retired to Naples, Florida. They would later move in their retirement to Green Valley, Arizona while spending their summers in Colorado. After laying her husband to rest, she moved to Montrose, Colorado to be closer to family. She enjoyed spending time with her great grandkids, sharing with them her love of art.

Gail is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Reynolds; daughter, Jenny Sundquist; granddaughter, Nina Reynolds; and parents, Leon and Alma Youngs. She is survived by her son, Mark (Usha) Reynolds of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Fitzjarrell of Rocky, Oklahoma, Victor Timothy (Katie) Sundquist of Olathe, Colorado, Lena (Dylan) Ashby of Grand Junction, Colorado, David (Traci) Sundquist of Olathe, Colorado, Nate (Autumn) Sundquist of Parkland, Oklahoma, Owen (Jodi) Sundquist of Olathe, Colorado, and Luke Reynolds of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Landon, Clara, Elena, Echo, Rory, Sterling, Bowen, Raylin, Lane, Canyon, Ember, Wesley, and Oakley.

A memorial service for Gail Reynolds will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta, Colorado. Her and Fred's ashes will be scattered at the tennis court in Steamboat sometime in July. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HopeWest Hospice in Montrose, Colorado at the following link.
