Elizabeth (Bette) Marie Morfitt, 83, passed away peacefully on June 8th at her home, with her family by her side.
Born on September 8, 1941, in Telluride, Colorado to Alice and Conrad Marchbanks, the family including her two sisters Marilyn and Margie would eventually move to Delta, Colorado where her two brothers were born and the family turned to farming, raising sugar beets and corn to make a living.
Growing up she helped her father on the farm feeding cows and her mother in the kitchen.
Bette could do it all.
While attending Delta High School she met the love of her life Richard Morfitt. The two married in 1960 and lived in different parts of Colorado for several years before returning to Delta.
Bette and Richard were partners for 63 years both in life and work. Together they built a successful farm business still operating today. While she kept things running from the office, she never hesitated to trade in her Cadillac to help drive trucks from field to field.
An accomplishment that paled in comparison to the pride she had for her family.
She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Donnie and Les, and a loving and supportive grandmother to eight and great grandmother to 17.
Bette, or ‘Grandma Bette’ as she was known by many, was kind, honest & strong with a deep faith in God, farming and family.
She is preceded in death by Richard Morfitt. Survived by her children, Donnie (DeAnne) Morfitt. Les (Desiree) Morfitt, her grand children and her great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on June 17th at 10am at St. Michaels Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
