Eldon
Anders
January 19, 1941 – April 15, 2026
Olathe Assembly of God
3:00 - 4:00 pm (Mountain time)
Eldon Anders passed away after spending the day with his daughter on April 15, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was 85 years old. He was born to Gene and Opal Anders on January 19, 1941 in Montrose, Colorado. He was the second of four children. He grew up working on his father’s farm in Olathe, Colorado.
He went through his school years in Olathe, Colorado. He enjoyed wrestling as a sport in high school. He met Patsy Catt in high school, and they were married and were blessed with two children. This marriage ended and he married Mary McDowell, and they were blessed with one daughter and one son. He spent many years with Darlene Lampton until her passing. He then spent 17 wonderful years with Nancy Neuenschwander in a log home they built on La Rue Creek in the north fork area. When she passed away, Eldon spent his last eight years with his friend Jewel Norderud.
Eldon was a lifetime local of the Western Slope of Colorado. He worked in construction until he was severely injured in a work accident. He returned to farming and ranching as he enjoyed working outdoors. Eldon loved working with and taking care of animals of all kinds, going so far as to buy grain and corn to feed the wild turkeys that would show up in the winter. Eldon was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking care of his cats, dogs, goats, chickens, cows, horses, and any baby animal he would find without a mother. He would bring the baby animal home and take care of it until it was safe to release back into the wild and fend for itself. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football. He had a joyous sense of humor and was always telling jokes and stories and bringing laughter to those around him. He loved watching his firstborn son ride the broncs and the bulls in the rodeos.
Eldon is survived by his daughter, Eldonna “Ellie” Anders and son, Shane Anders; brother, Monte (Diane) Anders; sister, Patty (Tom) Cox; granddaughter, Jacque Anders-Dudley and great-granddaughter, Lila; nieces, nephews and their children. He is also survived by Nancy’s daughters, one son and many of their children and grandchildren and some life-long friends.
He is going to join those who passed before him such as his mother and father, Gene and Opal Anders; his sister, Jeanine Ivy; his son, Vaugh Anders; his grandson, Robbie Schmidt; and his granddaughter, Paige Schmidt. He will be welcomed with love and open arms.
The remembrance Service is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 3:00pm in the afternoon at the Olathe, Colorado Assembly of God church.
