David Lee Pope
David Lee Pope passed away on January 19, 2026, at the Delta Hospital surrounded by his loving daughters and other family members. He was 72 years old.
David was born on April 17, 1953, in Tulare, California to Deane Pope and Louise (Carner) Pope. He had two older sisters, Karen (Pope) Brouse and Deanna (Pope) Burnett. He also had one younger brother, Danny Pope, who recently passed away. He has two younger sisters, Pamela (Pfister) Ballard and Kathleen (Pfister) Marshall.
David is survived by his four sisters, one son, Deane Pope, one stepson, Dustin Seevers, and two daughters, Mandy (Pope) Davenport and Kristin Pope. He is also survived by four grandchildren, David, Colter, Shaylynn, and Tyler, and two great grandchildren, David and Bentley.
When David was 2 ½ years old his father passed away, and the family moved from Tulare, California to Olathe, Colorado where his maternal grandparents owned a farm. He helped his grandfather, Walter Carner, by driving farm machinery and tending the animals. While attending school in Olathe, he became a very accomplished athlete exceling in Basketball and Football. After graduating Olathe High School, he furthered his education by attending electronic classes at a college in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Most of his life was spent in western Colorado, and he loved the mountains and wildlife. He especially enjoyed camping as often as he could with his younger brother, Danny.
He was known as an excellent truckdriver while working for several companies including a sand and gravel company in Montrose, Colorado.
David married his high school sweetheart, Rhu Ann McIntyre shortly after graduation from high school. After that marriage was dissolved, he married Tracy Chapman and had two children, Deane and Mandy. Later, he married Lindsay (Hubbard) Alire and had his daughter, Kristin and acquired a stepson, Dustin.
One of his greatest joys in life was playing pranks and teasing people. He was a very tall, loving grandfather and great grandfather and the entire family would miss him greatly.
A celebration of life will be announced later.
