Clinton George Stroud

Clinton George Stroud was born on March 30, 1945, in Springerville, Arizona, to Hazel Armenta and William Cleo Stroud. He grew up living in Springerville, Eager, and Alpine, Arizona as well as Texas and Oklahoma. He attended school at Round Valley in Springerville, Arizona.

At a young age Clinton knew his life would only be well lived near livestock. At the high school level Clinton's football team took state two years in a row. He was granted a football scholarship to Northeastern Junior College in Safford. After a few games he found his true love was roping calves so when the football coach said either play football or go rope, Clint went roping. He worked on many ranches over the years. He broke horses, doctored sick cows, and roped.

In 1966 his family moved to Paonia, Colorado. The next morning, after arriving he was hired by Harold Ross to help bring the cows off the summer permit. After the cows were home Clinton continued to work on the ranch. He started dating "the Boss's daughter" and he and Patricia were married in 1968. To the union came their son Mikal in 1970 and their daughter Lisa arrived in 1973.

Clinton obtained his real estate license in 1969 and continued selling large ranches in Western Colorado until 2007 when he decided if he was ever going to have a ranch it had to be now. With 150 heads of cows, he loved ranching. Of course, it also meant farming to produce the feed for the cows. When he did take a day off it was to go roping. Clint traded his calf roping skills for team roping. He and his partners won 13 saddles, many belt buckles, roping bags, and other prizes along the way. He made amazing friends and was an amazing friend in return. He didn't know how to say no a friend and was always at the gate when help was needed.

Clinton lived with diabetes for 15 years, had six heart stints and ended having to be on dialysis. He chose to leave dialysis on August 8th and passed away on September 22, 2026.

He is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Lisa; honorary daughter Mika Tozer (Hardy) and their daughter Rossi; and Cordell Clinton Stroud (Heather), their daughter, Peyton, and son, Logan. He was preceded in death by his son Mikal and his grandson Dustin James; sister Mary Ann Watkins; and sister JoAnn Monterith.

Interment will be at the Delta City Cemetery on September 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life at the Cowboy Christian Church in Austin, Colorado at 3:00.
