Cecil Edward Norrid, 91 years young, passed away peacefully at his residence in Crawford, CO on Wednesday May 13, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Cecil was born on August 25, 1934, in Wheeler County, TX, to Solley Norrid and Elva (Burrell) Norrid. He spent his childhood taking his finger and wiping icing off of his mother’s homemade cakes and getting in trouble for it. He also stole pumpkins and watermelons out of the patches, being raised in the dry farm lands of Wheeler County.

He attended Kelton School where he graduated 12th grade. He also attended Frank Phillips Jr. College in Borger, TX and Southwestern State in Houston, TX.

He met Betty Imajean Davis in 1955, in a diner where she was a waitress. Betty had two sons Billy Wayne York and Earl William Davis II. They married on September 22, 1956, in Clayton, NM. Soon after, they became parents to Jaquita M. Watters (Norrid) on September 21, 1957, who was born in Dumas, Texas.

He lived in Shamrock, Lubbock, and Dumas, TX, Colorado Springs, CO, Lovell, WY, and then relocated back to Colorado Springs, CO in 1962, where he became a Glass Glazier and supervised over 150 men to install plate glass windows in the surrounding area including in downtown Denver, CO. He was especially proud of the job that was done on the high rise building that looks like a cash register. He and Betty opened "Betty's Biscuit Hill Cafe" in Colorado Springs, CO in 1975. They sold the restaurant in 1991, and relocated to Crawford, CO.

He was a member of Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge #841, AF & AM in Lubbock, Texas, a lifetime member of the Mt. Lamborn #0102 Masonic Lodge in Hotchkiss, CO, Colorado Consistory and Scottish Rite of FreeMasonry Valley of Denver, CO, and received his 32 Degree. He became a lifetime member of the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge #1807 in 1995. He was also a lifetime member of the Glaziers Union #930 in Denver, CO.

He spent his free time hunting, fishing, piloting a Cessna 210, and horseback riding in his younger years.

He is survived by his daughter, Jaquita Watters and her husband Chriss Watters of Crawford, CO, a son, Terry McFarland of Menifee, CA. Granddaughters, Aspen Watters of Clifton, CO and Brandy Watters of Fruita, CO, and great grandsons, Noah Gilden of Aurora, CO, and Wyatt Gilden of Parker, CO, stepson Billy Wayne York of Seneca, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Solley and Elva Norrid, brothers Floyd Norrid and James Norrid, sisters Mary Bell Bentley and Edna (Lea) Kidd, Betty I. Norrid, and stepson Earl William Davis II.

He was 91 years young! In his later years, he loved to play Poker and Bingo, and especially playing Dominoes with those who would be so brave to play against him! He loved reading, and he always had to have a book with him whether he had time to read it or not. He also enjoyed eating lunch at the Senior Center in Delta and Hotchkiss.

Following the graveside service, there will be refreshments served at the Community Room at the Crawford Town Hall at 425 Highway 92, Crawford, CO.
