Carolyn K. Hawkins

Carolyn K. Hawkins, 77, of Delta passed away November 15th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hawkins, her mother, Anna Weiss and father William Weiss, sisters Dorothy Faries, Luella Mackenroth and Mary Hartwig and brothers Leonard Weiss and Paul Weiss.

She is survived by her sister Darlene Nash and husband Don, multiple nieces and nephews; Steven Faries and wife Lori, Alvin Faries, Noah Mackenroth and wife Nancy, Sheri Rogers, Jill Norris and husband Tom, Donald Nash, Jonathan Nash, Stacy Chiles and husband John and Matthew Weiss. While she did not have any natural children, she is also survived by Deloss Hancock, whom she helped raise and considered her son, and his fiancé Keylee Esplin and Marla Hancock who she also helped raise and considered family. 

Carolyn was raised in Paonia and has many special friends that she has remained in touch with over the years. Friends she made working at the phone company, first in Paonia and then in Hotchkiss before retiring from TDS. She was also the manager of the Paonia Drive-In for most of the time it was in business. After it closed, she and her husband Jack started an airpark west of Delta and had glider rides and a small concession stand and a very impressive rose garden she really enjoyed cultivating. She truly enjoyed the social interaction so when that closed, she started an ice-cream truck that she enjoyed taking to various festivals and celebrations and sometimes just driving it around Delta to bring happiness to those that enjoyed a frozen treat during the hot days. Deloss and Marla helped her on the ice cream truck; she enjoyed teaching them good work ethics and the benefits of managing their earnings. She was loved and will be missed by many.

According to her wishes, there will be no services.
