Burton Fredrick Nieman

Burton Nieman passed away 7/01/2024 after a brief stay at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO at 87 years old. He resided in Grand Junction, CO. Burt was born on May 15th, 1938 in Valley Falls, Kansas to Cleone Shasteen and Richard Nieman. He grew up in Atchison, Kansas where he graduated from Atchison High School.  After high school, Burt joined the United States Air Force where he served as an Ordnance Specialist. He retired in 1970. He then worked many years in oil and gas leasing as well as the mortgage industry.

Burt married Lucille Pettit and made their home in Colorado. They lived the majority of their time together in Arvada, CO. In 2014, Burt and Lucille moved to Western Colorado. Burt made many friends wherever he resided during this time. He was always talkative and had something to say that was sure to make you laugh or shake your head.

Burt is survived by his three children, Ronald (Jo) Nieman of Homer, AK; Jennifer (Frank) Taylor of Oregon; and Jeff Nieman of Paonia, CO. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Burt is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; parents, Richard and Cleone Nieman; his brothers Loren, Jack and Keith (Bud) Nieman; his sister Frances (Kay) Norton.

Services will be held at the Veteran's Cemetery of Western Colorado on August 5th, 2024, at 10 am in Grand Junction, CO.
