Betty Joanne Golladay

April 18, 1934 — March 28, 2025

Montrose, Colorado

Betty Joanne Golladay entered into the presence of the Lord on March 28, 2025 at the age of 90, with her loving family by her side. Betty was a woman of extraordinary love, kindness and strength. Her unwavering faith and trust in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for forgiveness and the promise of eternal life with God was the foundation for her life. Betty found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God’s plan.

Betty was born on April 18, 1934 to Raymond Isaac and Bessie Pearl McBroom in Pueblo, Colorado. As a child she excelled in school, was an accomplished pianist, loved to swim, and would spend quality time with her loving family and cousins riding horses and enjoying the family ranch in the mountains. Betty graduated from Centennial High School with Honors, and was a graduate from Stephens College and the University of California. Upon returning home from college, Betty was employed as a Dietitian at the Colorado State Hospital.

Throughout her life Betty was very active in her church teaching Sunday school, as well as singing and playing the piano in the church choir where God led her to meet her husband. On one particular Sunday while singing in the choir, Betty looked out into the auditorium and noticed a handsome young Christian man, who she would eventually marry. Betty and Donald were married June 9, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colorado. Her greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of her husband and the gift of being a mom to the couple’s three children, Cynthia, Deborah and their son Scott, who was born on their 10th wedding anniversary. Betty’s lifelong dedication to her family and endless love for her children was evident in her daily life.

Betty loved the study of the Bible and would seek to go beyond the surface-level reading and delve into the meaning of the text. She completed a comprehensive seven-year study of the Bible through the Explorer’s Bible Study. Betty believed that God’s word, when studied and applied, could have a profound impact on her life as well as the people around her. She was called to witness for Christ, both through her words and actions.

Betty was a passionate gardener, transforming her backyard into a beautiful flower garden which was a vibrant, fragrant haven, bursting with colorful blooms. She was inspired by her love of the mountains and beautiful wild flowers. Betty also enjoyed decorating and making everything beautiful, especially at Christmas. She was an amazing cook and loved to try new recipes. She loved traveling around the country with her family, especially New Mexico, where she embraced the Native American culture. By far, Betty’s greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.

Betty joins her parents Raymond Isaac and Bessie Pearl McBroom, her brother Raymond Jr., and many other loved ones in Heaven. She will be lovingly remembered by Donald, husband of 69 years, her three children Cynthia (Louis) Aprea, Deborah (Jeff) Kepner, and Scott Golladay, her grandson Nicholas Aprea, her cousin Babe Boyd, and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Betty’s journey on earth was marked by love and compassion for others, abundant generosity and kindness, and her belief in the power of the Gospel message to bring salvation and eternal life. Her passing brings tremendous sadness, but also the comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the arms of her Savior. May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to honor her memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life.
