Arnie Grimm of Cedaredge, Colorado, passed away on June 27, 2025 surrounded by his family. Arnie was born on October 17, 1954 in Van Nuys, California to Blake and Noami Grimm and is the youngest of three sons.
Arnie spent his life in service to his family and his community. He served 14 years in the US Navy. In the Navy, he liked to consider himself a pirate and took great joy in “Talk like a Pirate Day” and dressing like a pirate for renascence fairs. He served on 5 ships and was an instructor at the Great Lakes Naval Base. He was a Gas Turbine Engineer-Chief Petty Officer- E-7.
Arnie was a Boy Scout leader for 19 years. He shared his love of camping, traveling, astronomy, community service, and cooking. During camping trips, he also shared his joy of music and storytelling. He helped many scouts, including his son, in achieving Eagle Scout.
In his later years, he started writing his stories down. He has published 11 total books. Many of his books are a part of his Broomstick Tales and can be found in the Cedaredge library.
After moving to Cedaredge, he joined the VFW and served in the role of Vice Commander. He continued his community service with the pancake breakfast, supporting other veterans, and placing flags to honor the fallen.
Arnie’s greatest joy is his wife Karen of 49 ½ years and his family. Arnie contributed his happy marriage to living life to the fullest and having a great sense of humor.
