Hotchkiss, Colorado resident, Adam James Mountin, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at his home in Hotchkiss, Colorado. He was 42 years of age.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paonia, Colorado.
Adam was born on October 1, 1982, to Larry James and Kathleen Marie (Hartung) Mountin in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He graduated, Class of 2000 from Lancaster High School in Lancaster California, excelling in baseball, football and computer science. After graduation, Adam moved to Wisconsin to help care for his father, who was also suffering from Huntington’s Disease.
Adam worked for Mountin Construction and then as a graphics designer at the Republican Eagle newspaper (first local online newspaper) in Red Wing, Minnesota and later at PennySaverUSA.com
Adam was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Adam has been a resident of Hotchkiss for the past 8 years, moving from Vista, California. He previously lived in Elmwood, Wisconsin, Lancaster, California and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Adam was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, loved riding his four-wheeler, trap shooting horseback, riding and being outdoors. He was hard to beat in the family Euchre card games. Adam’s greatest enjoyment was being with his family.
Adam is survived by his mother, Kathleen (Mark) Sommer of Hotchkiss; his sister, Christina (Michael) Boyd of Bainbridge Island, Washington; nephew, Nolan Boyd and niece Hazel Boyd.
Adam was preceded in death by his father, Larry and brother, David Mountin.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
