Wanda B. Reed

Wanda Beatrice Reed, 89, passed away May 5th at her house on Fruitland Mesa near Crawford, Colorado. She entered into the presence of her beloved Savior Jesus surrounded by family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Dan Reed; her sister, Blanche (Darrell) Fried of Thompson Falls, Montana and two brothers; Kenneth (Miriam)Huling of Wasilla, Alaska and Paul (Doris) Huling of Nampa, Idaho. She is also survived by her four children: Rebecca Reed of Gazelle, CA., Gary (Karen) Reed of Seattle, WA., Roger (Karen) Reed of Rangely, Colorado and Cindy (Walter) Reed Vogel of Pasa Robles, CA.
Wanda was the loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren , and 1 great, great grand child. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Vivian Huling; her sister, Ruby Polson, her brother, Roe Huling and a great grandson, Sky Reed.
Wanda was born December 10, 1931 in Hamlin Valley, Utah to Howard and Vivian Huling. When she was still young the family moved To Fruitland Mesa where the family lived until Wanda graduated from High School in Crawford. Her father bought a school bus and took the family to Chugiak, Alaska where they homesteaded.
Wanda married Dan Reed there in 1951 and started a family. Dan was a bush pilot and worked for the railroad at that time. In 1960 the family moved to Northern California. Dan worked for the Forest Service while Wanda went to college and earned a BA in English and a Masters in speech pathology. She taught speech in elementary schools for 18 years.
In 1988, Dan and Wanda returned to Colorado and bought the old Huling Homestead where they lived until her passing.
All who met her were blessed with her generous heart, quiet faith, laughing smile and kind soul. She always believed in helping and welcoming everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community in Christ.
Service will be held on May 11 at the Saddle Mountain Fellowship at 11 AM in Crawford, CO. Graveside services will follow at the Garden of Memories, Crawford, CO.
