Delta, Colorado resident, Marlene M. Brown, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Montage Creek Senior Living in Montrose. She was 84 years of age.
A family memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. January 10, 2021.
Marlene Mabel Gilbert was born on October 4, 1936 to Irene M. (Thielhorn) and Olaf B. Gilbert in Jackson, Minnesota. She spent her childhood in Estherville, Iowa graduating from Estherville High School. Marlene grew up in the American Lutheran Church.
On April 29, 1956, Marlene married Gerald A. Brown in Brodhead, Wisconsin. To this union, 5 children were born. They were married for 64.
The family moved to Grand Junction in 1970 where they resided for 6 years before moving to Delta.
Marlene enjoyed bowling, fishing and camping. She loved traveling the country with Gerald. A few of their favorite trips were to Alaska, Belize and Canada.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Gerald; four sons: Terry (Julie) Brown of Grand Junction, CO; Garry (Kathi) Brown of Nuevo, CA; Kevin Brown and Greg Brown of Delta; one daughter, Mary E. Opperman of Prineville, OR; a brother, Rodger Gilbert; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
