Paonia resident, George J. Barco Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colorado. He was 84 years old.
George J. Barco Jr. was born August 29, 1936 to George J. and Grace (Fisher) Barco in Geneva, New York. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Geneva, graduating from Geneva High School with the class of 1955.
On November 11, 1961 George married the love of his life, Josephine L. Smith in Geneva, New York. The couple had two children, Lewis and Tammy.
George resided in Waterloo, New York where he was a tool and die maker for many years. He was also a member of the West Lake Road Fire Association, the Twilight Roamers motorcycle club, and as a child the Civil Air Patrol. In 2009 he moved to western Colorado to be closer to his family.
George enjoyed motorcycles, tractors, woodstoves, and dancing. He loved to meet new people and was very outgoing.
George is survived by his son, Lewis Barco (Donna Lindsay) of Delta, CO; his daughter, Tammy York (Lee) of Paonia, CO; a sister, Patricia Gaudio of Concord, NC. He is further survived by his five grandchildren Vinny, Shannon, Faith, Damon & River.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Barco and his parents, George and Grace Barco.
