Forest F. "Mike" Hinchman

November 14, 1934 - April 27, 2020

Lifetime Surface Creek Valley resident Mike Hinchman passed away at his Eckert residence, with his loving family by his side, on Monday, April 27, 2020. Mike was 85 years of age. At his request, no formal service will be held. Mike was born on November 14, 1934, in Cedaredge, to Lewis F. and Sarah Jane (Mahannah) Hinchman. Mike attended Cedaredge schools through the 6th grade, then finished his education at Delta schools. On December 7, 1952 Mike wed Dorthy “June” Cathcart in Cedaredge and together they were parents to three children. Mike worked 42 years in the construction and concrete industry and lived most of his married life in Eckert. In December of this year Mike & June would have celebrated 68 years of marriage. Among Mike’s hobbies and interests were their cabin on Grand Mesa, and he was an avid gardener. Mike enjoyed sharing the “fruits” of his garden every year with neighbors and friends, and loved to leave things from the garden on their front porches. He also enjoyed the many varieties of birds, and liked to make bird feeders. Among Mike’s survivors are his spouse, June, of Eckert; two sons: Michael “Mickey” (Vicki) Hinchman, and Steve (Kathy) Hinchman, both of Cedaredge; daughter Sandy Lehigh, of Billings, MT; 7 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren and sweet Rosie his pet kitty cat. Preceding Mike in death were his parents, son-in-law John Lehigh; three brothers: Bud Hinchman, Jim Hinchman and Albert Hinchman, and sister Eda Hinchman.
