    Corinne Alice (Coleman) Allen

    May 5, 1935 - September 6, 2020

Corinne Alice Coleman went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 6, 2020. She passed away quietly at the Arkansas Valley Medical Center in La Junta, Colorado. She was born on May 5, 1935 in Denver, Colorado to Elmer Edward Coleman and Joyce Alice Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gifford Henry Allen, brothers, Ronald and Daryl Coleman, niece Daryln Coleman, and nephew Karl Coleman. She is survived by her daughter Gaynell Allen of La Junta, granddaughters Jessica Hyman, Shannon Reneau, and Hope Irwin, and great-granddaughter, Adelina, bothers Richard and Raymond Coleman and numerous nieces and nephews. Corinne graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1953 and began work in Grand Junction as a nanny for a doctor. She then married Gifford Allen in November of 1957 and they lived in Hotchkiss until Gifford obtained a teaching job in Swink, Colorado where he taught for nearly 20 years. They spent every summer and vacation in Hotchkiss, however, because that is where their home was and where they retired to. Corinne was a homemaker most of her life, yet she enjoyed delivering papers for the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel and in the summers, would pick cherries with her daughter and youngest brother. Corinne was a gifted seamstress and would sew for her daughter and mother, and eventually her three granddaughters, and other friends and family members. That was her hobby as well as playing cards with her friends in Swink. Corinne believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and taught her daughter about His love and grace. She was a member of a non-denominational church whose workers and friends in the church often visited and encouraged her. She loved to read and listen to the word of God. Corinne will be missed and remembered for her true faith and devotion to our Lord. Rest in peace Mom – I love you.
